LET’S DIG IN!

Sweet Disaster might be the single they’re promoting strongly but OMG!  Usually, I go very little for an indie band that is a slight pop and alternative sound because not many have ever captured a “wow” fever from me.  I think today, this all changed!

From the very first song, Drugs, I was hooked! As I nod and tap my foot along with each of these 12 songs I didn’t hesitate once to smile.  With themes touching on partying and occasional freaking out to the struggles of young life involving others and where in life you belong, the lyrics sound appropriate for this style.

The last time I felt immersed in this type of music was with Marcy Playground’s debut album and almost with The Wombats.  I needed to stop and reflect on what I just heard. Who exactly is Dreamers?  Then, it hit me. Dreamers is a standalone act.

On one end of the shovel

Each song was a hit.  If I didn’t think a song started out with “hit” momentum it soon hooked me and I felt the old fashioned feeling of just having watched a great adventure/romance movie and didn’t want to get up after the credits were rolling.

On the other end of the shovel

This Album Does Not Exist has a style that does a good job of separating the Indie with a touch of pop style from the stale majority that never quite hooked me. However, I get a sense that the album could be played to death sooner than later as this style tends to do for some.

How deep can I dig this?

With feeling like I listened to an updated version of a series of one hit wonder pop songs from the 80’s and early 90’s as well as modernized hooks from back in the 60’s I was caught off guard.  Since there was not one song I disliked I can completely recommend every song on the album!  Now, some might say they don’t stand out as much as I am telling you they do. Those who would say that would be people who listen to a whole lot of Indie stuff. But even they would like it, I’m quite sure. However, I’m not sure it wouldn’t get tiresome after listening to it over and over again within a few weeks.  Personally, I’ll put the album in rotation to see how long it takes to get tired of hearing them, if ever. For these reasons I can easily dig 9 out of 10 feet deep with Dreamers!
